What I Did
After going through the program, I coordinated the Birmingham Pledge to help continue the legacy of Martin Luther King’s dream of equality. The Pledge is an annual signing in which the signees make a promise to themselves and to their community that they will not participate in racial discrimination, but instead practice racial tolerance.
What I Learned
I learned that I had a keen desire to be around people and alert them to different social issues in our community. I also learned that I thrive in leadership positions: formulating a plan and then seeing that it's executed.
Why You Should Take Action
This is a great program that credits individuals for their work in the community. It lets people know that their efforts are not going unnoticed, and that they are being praised and commended for their hard work and dedication.
